PRESS & MEDIA

Registration

ACTRIMS welcomes and values media participation for MSVirtual2020 and offers complimentary registration to those who qualify for press passes. Press and media representatives may register by completing the online application form below and providing the appropriate credentials.

ELIGIBILITY
Press passes are available only to working journalists who must show the appropriate credentials. Any reporter, writer, producer, editor, photographer or blogger with credentials from a print, online or broadcast news organization, including freelance journalists, will be considered.

Bloggers seeking press passes must work for a media outlet, publication, or independent website or blog post that has original coverage and must demonstrate they have been writing regular posts at least 4 months prior to the conference. Bloggers should send a link of their website(s), samples of their blogs, or a letter from their editor for review.

Companies or organizations producing publications, videos and other products intended for marketing, advertising, financial analysis or public relations purposes may not register for press passes. This includes any organization that intends to sell or distribute content for profit and/or continuing medical education (CME) opportunities.

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
All press and media representatives must complete the online application form and submit one of the following credentials for review:

  • A letter of assignment or intent on the letterhead of the news organization being represented.
  • A copy of a press or business card clearly showing media affiliation and position.

Freelance journalists must submit one of the following for review:

  • A letter of assignment or intent on the letterhead of the news organization being represented.
  • Recent copies of published bylined medical-related work.

Interviews

For advance coordination, please send requests for interviews and/or second sources to the Press Manager at [email protected]. Media must receive approval from an abstract author/presenter prior to quoting or publishing their scientific results.

ECTRIMS and/or affiliated trademarks and logos are the property of ECTRIMS. They cannot be used, reproduced or associated with any article or press release without the prior written permission of ECTRIMS.

Embargo Policies

The following embargo policies are strictly enforced. Failure by media organizations to abide by the embargoes will result in suspension of media credentials, which will affect access privileges to current and future abstracts presented at ACTRIMS programs.

ABSTRACT EMBARGO POLICY
Abstracts and featured research accepted for presentation at MSVirtual2020 are embargoed until published on the MSVirtual2020 Online Program. Full text of Regular Abstracts will be published on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Full text of Late Breaking Abstracts will be published on Friday, September 25, 2020.

Registered press and media will receive preview access to Late Breaking Abstracts on the morning of Monday, September 21, 2020, from the Press Manager; however, Late Breaking Abstracts remain under embargo until Friday, September 25.

PRESS RELEASE POLICY
Press releases related to Regular Abstracts that contain presentation data are strictly prohibited until the abstract is available on the MSVirtual2020 Online Program on Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

Press releases related to Late Breaking Abstracts that contain presentation data are strictly prohibited until the abstract is available on the MSVirtual2020 Online Program on Friday, September 25, 2020.

Investigators or study sponsors who wish to issue press releases that contain no actual presentation data but provide “top line” information in advance of the embargo date will need the approval of the Scientific Program Committee, who may require changes before permitting release. ACTRIMS does not review all outside press releases but will hold those representatives responsible for any misrepresentation.

Press releases that feature data or news related to MSVirtual2020 should include the full name of the meeting: MSVirtual2020: 8th Joint ACTRIMS-ECTRIMS Meeting.

SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
Distributing news and information about MSVirtual2020 through social media is encouraged within the embargo restrictions. Please use the official hashtag in all social media posts: #MSVIRTUAL2020
